The title Nós makes a play on the word for ‘knot’ and the word for ‘we’ in Portuguese. The tied knot being a symbol of the coming together of two or more things in a perfect wholeness. Knots unite and historically were also thought to protect. This collection of wall based and free standing sculpture is made up of multiple media knotted and interwoven together using a combination of traditional craft and fine art techniques.
This series became associated with the energies of Spring and Summer. Inspiration developed from ideas more ancient than recorded history. They were a joy to make and aim to capture the surging upwardly spiralling forces of the deep earth in their attempt to make connection with the heavens.
